June: two trips, not one
Rock am Ring closes on June 6 and Best Kept Secret opens on June 11. On paper that looks like a tidy pairing. In practice you have four days in between and a move from Germany to the Netherlands, so you need a second set of travel arrangements, somewhere to stay in the gap and a second festival budget. If both appeal, plan them as two separate trips that just happen to fall close together. July: a shared changeover day
Electric Castle runs July 14-18. Boom Festival starts July 18 and runs to July 25. The handover falls on the same day, and Romania and Portugal are far apart on the map. Unless you are willing to leave one festival before its last day, treat these as alternatives. At eight days, Boom's window is also the longest on this list, and that changes the question. You are not trying to fit in one more event. You are deciding whether you can give a single destination a full week. August: Way Out West or Flow
This is the overlap that matters most. Way Out West runs August 12-14 in Sweden, and Flow Festival runs August 13-15 in Finland. August 13 and 14 belong to both, so this is a choice between them, not a Nordic double bill. Doing a bit of each would mean leaving one early and turning up at the other partway through, with a change of country in between. How to choose a single destination
This is not a ranking. The dates say nothing about which festival is better, and neither do we. What they can do is shape the decision:
